the 'martini' shot for the Good With You video...the insert of Cling To Me...
Dudes!!!....woah what a week…it took me a week to recover!!...ha!...not really I just been out like every nite since I got home which makes me sleep really late etc and so on…anyway I had to go to San Fran last week (the 5th) to go to NARM (National Association of Record Merchandizers- basically some music conference thing where people get drunk and shmooz) to meet some of the distribution people from Fontana/Universal and to meet my radio promo guy Craig who is awesome…just the kind of dude u want working your record ….a big good looking, fun-loving, partying wild man…cool guy…we bonded over our love of green tea whilst knocking back cocktails…yeah!...after two days of shaking hands and eating some amazing dinner's with my buddy Mike I went to Sacramento with Craig and Andrew to play for the staff of some radio station there…then it was off to LA to shoot the video….one thing that happened that was pretty funny on the way there was that Andrew (my manager btw) and I were starving when we got to the Sacramento airport so we took turns watching each others stuff and getting food…I went first and got some Mexican which I thought would be very self contained and easy but it came with these big open styrofoam containers placed uncovered and precariously in this huge plastic covered deli tray…Holy carbon footprint Batman …hey-zues!...anyway I returned to the gate and Andrew went ….he came back with the same huge tray but filled with tortilla chips and a little salsa thing balanced on top…we were the last ones to get on the plane and that's when we realized it wasn't assigned seating so there were only middle seats left… as we we're walking back and forth trying to find the smallest people to wedge ourselves in between I had Andrew in front of me and suddenly I see this passenger who was actually a pilot from the airline sitting amongst civilians jump up like someone had spilt something on him… sure enough Andrew had squeezed that environmentally challenged thing too hard and fucking corn chips were flying everywhere …all eyes were on us cuz everyone was just waiting for us to get settled so we could get the fuck outta there …you kinda have to know Andrew to truly appreciate this story but I had to control myself because I was crying laughing which I bet pissed some folks off….
We arrived in LA around 7 and got to the hotel at like 8:30…LA traffic is the one thing I don't miss…but I was soooo psyched to see everything else…I have to admit I fell in love with LA a little from being out there so much and it was good to be back…we checked in to the Grafton a hotel right on Sunset in the heart of everything or somethings anyway …. I went to Josh and Campy's room and josh and I practiced our acoustic set which is getting better…we were all supposed to have dinner with the director and his girl, the rep from the label, and the stylist at like 9…it was a great time and everyone got pleasantly intoxicated and we all went up to my room with the stylist Jill (who was so cool) to look at all the different clothes I was gonna wear in the shoot the next day…the call the next day was prolly like 5 am for the crew but the rest of us had a 10 am call… I have to say I have never experienced anything like this before in my life …I've been on a couple of sets before but it's totally different to be involved…it was done on this lot called The Escarpment in downtown LA… the set was awesome…I shot several different scenes in all these different rooms…also the label wanted to have a version of the video that had another song mixed in for promotional reasons…the song is called Cling To Me...there's some footage of it above obviously...the whole "martini" shot thing means the last shot of the day....never knew that…in this version Cling To Me comes in almost like a bridge to the song…I was a little skeptical at first but it's really cool…I become the opposite of myself in Good With You…basically I switch from white clothes to black clothes…but I know you guys will dig the song …hard work yo…you know when you roll your eyes when actors say their work is hard well …keep rolling your eyes at them cuz yes it is really hard but boo hoo other shit is way harder…lol...I'm sure what they do is hard cuz they have to become someone else…but I really just had to act like myself for the whole day….i turned up the l.p. knob to 11 and let it rip….I was pretty much in every scene so at the end of the day I was a bit tired but super hyper…
We went out to the Rainbow Room on Sunset after the show with everyone and had a great time…Slash was at the next table which was really funny cuz….well wait til you see the video…and Tommy Lee was at another table right near us ….it was trippy…there was a Camp Freddy show at the Roxy next door that night that's why…I hung out with Erica my bud from nyc who did all the behind the scenes footage that I hope will be up soon…and also my gorgeous friend Alaina from Porcelain and the Tramps who has a cameo in the video as the cool girl who's watching the band …nice……we were outside sitting next to each other and some girl comes up to us and points at Alaina and says, "Is that your boyfriend?"…pointing at me…"if it's not it should be!"…we laughed are asses off and just kept taking in the whole scene that is the Rainbow…back at the hotel much shenanigans ensued and I think I wound up showing everyone that I could do a hand stand at around 5 am…a running hand stand that is …against a mirror…well done…we all got a little wild and the night manager knocked on my manager's door where we were hangin' and said, "you're gonna get kicked outta here if you don't calm the fuck down"…yikes….easy dude...
…the next morning was unsurprisingly difficult…I left various things of varying importance at the hotel and got to the airport only to face delays and the tragedy of fluorescent light…got home around 10:30 pm …and then it was off to Dewey Beach the next morning….actually around noon which is still morning to me…Josh and I piled into the rent-o-car not sure if we would hit traffic but it wasn't that nice out so we just sailed on down…we wanted to get to our motel early to practice which we did…unfortunately not all the songs that we had ready to play were heard ….as you all know I haven't played a gig in a bit and I have some new pedals that I'm running my acoustic (which is also new) through so it took me like 20 minutes just to get my gear up and running so our set was short…but the crowd was sooo nice…it felt good to just play any songs to an audience…some super cool girls who had seen us there before like 2 years ago came back and were throwing us some love…always appreciated!...we wound down the evening with Vikki and Adam who run/own the Rudder and their friends and their insanely cool Persian cat named Mr. Mushie who is sorta more like a dog and looks like he was drawn by Dr. Seuss…
…guys thanks again for all your great comments and the people who are "buying" me …well I'm damn flattered….u know you've arrived when…you're a ho…so…thanks. : )

Current mood: amused
Hello!!...hope this finds you all well and getting psyched for some summer action up in here for a change…. lots of new shit happening!!...recording, doin' some shows and a video as well!...first off I just got back from Miami where I was recording some of the record at this beautiful studio called Circle House…see it on the L.P. behind the scenes blog…it's owned by a reagge band called Inner Circle who are most famous for their song that is the intro to the Cops show…'Bad Boys Bad Boys watcha gonna do?"…cool place…very Mtv Cribs…I'm very psyched with all we got done…. I worked with the producer Steve Morales with Cristian De Lano engineering and playing some guitar and Kris Hawkins playing guitar and bass and this guy named Soram (aka Ray) working the drum machine….we worked from a base of drum machine and then built around that…I really like working this way cuz it makes shit a little easier to mess with as you build the song…we worked pretty much all through the nights…I didn't get much sleep and everyone except me and Kris fueled themselves with the gange which I'm always amazed at…some peeps get so focused with that shit…it's crazy…I just get stupid and can't sing which is not a good thing…so after I finished my vocals I stuck to my old friend alcohol to keep me going…can't wait for you guys to hear these songs!
We started scheduling shows too a bit cuz we kept getting offers and didn't want to keep saying no for fear of nobody asking anymore…lol…nothing on our home turf yet but we'll get there…gonna play in Dewey Beach on May 10th (acoustic) and it's at the Rusty Rudder (stage A) go to http://www.deweybeachfest.com/chickfest/, a festival in Jersey on Sunday June 22nd @ the Stone Pony at 7 pm and then starting July 6th we'll do a week of shows in Cali ….still really in getting the record done mode but really psyched to hit the stage again ..it's been too long!!!...I know a bunch of people just muttered "word"…under their breathe…word.
…and last of all…we're making a video for Good With You in LA…looking forward to it but it'll be a new one for me cuz the only video I ever made was for Wasted and me and my friend Bill did that in like 4 hours on the street and in his apartment…been practicing my lip-synching skills….watermelon, watermelon, watermelon…will try and get some behind the scenes footage for you guys to watch...with me in it maybe this time : D...wish me luck!

what’s going on?
Current mood: green tea caffinated
Oh geez, I did it again…no fucking blog forever…and there's been a lot o' shit going down …first of all I switched up labels…things at Island/Def Jam were getting very controlling and just taking too damn long for fucks sake…as the old joke goes, "How many A&R guys does it take to change a light bulb?...I don't know …what do you think, I don't know… what do you think?"…I wrote 83 songs this past year and they still didn't seem to know what to do with me….so umm…we parted ways and I signed to label called SoBe , an indie outta Miami that gets distributed through Universal …who loves me for myself (which shouldn't be so hard…right?... ; ))… and already shit is moving way faster and they dig what I do and wanna get rolling fast…sweet!... speaking of fast…this summer is going way too fast…wait!!!!....I'm not done …Labor Day??...what??...no more white shoes , no more scantily clad people….you know who you are…shit : /
This is going to be a very busy fall season for me…first of all I'm doing a photo session with this amazing photographer Autumn De Wilde…she's photographed of some of my favorite artists (Tegan and Sara, the White Stripes, Beck etc.)...also I should be on the road doing a handful of dates sometime this fall...I will let you know…I'll be recording the record with David Bendeth, Billy Steinberg/Josh Alexander, and Steve Morales…yay!...no more demos…I'm psyched!...I WILL keep you guys posted on stuff…hey btw my song Wasted is the theme song again this year for South of Nowhere …you guys should check it out if you haven't already …it's on the N at night which is Noggin during the day…it's a great show….thanks for all the great comments and for reading this and stopping by…much love and rock, l.p.

Current mood: present
what up y'all??...everytime I blog I always say I'm gonna blog more and then I don't...why is that?...dunno...can't figure it out...been a while...since last time I've been to europe...hung out in Stockholm for a couple of weeks with some writing buddies and had a great time...what a beautiful city...made me feel like the dyke James Bond...awesome...went to the Grand Hotel and the opera house....went to a bar that was only made of ice and left my skull ring imprinted in it...wore a silver fucking parka and drank absolut from a glass also made only of ice...partied in Stureplan(the city's famous night life area) and lost my coat and then found it amazingly a half hour later in the falafel place I had just been in but couldn't remember....later on that night as I was packing to go to London the next day I realized "Fuck!...my passport was in that coat!!... good thing I found it!"....the best part was that the way I remembered was that while I was packing I was watching Euro MTV and the Justin Timberlake video My Love was on and it was the part were T.I. raps and the passport goes flying by and BOOM that's when I realized...do yourselves a favor and don't get shit faced and stay up the entire nite last minute packing and then get on a plane....it does not feel that good...London was cool but not as cool as Stockholm to me but prolly cuz I had already been there before...I wrote some songs, had some bad food, saw a musical(don't ask...), and waited on line to get into some huge fag bar (men and women) in the freezing cold with my new friend Cler who I met right here on myspace...we wound up not getting in and went to surprise!! a falafel place where they wouldn't give us any beer and they put yogurt shit all over everything... which I hate...but the company was great...Cler where you @?...good times...more later...
hey you all people..i been gettin' some emails about wanting to download Wasted and then I try to reply to the email and it says that I can't email you unless your a friend and then I try to make you a friend and it says ...this person does not accept bands or this person has to know you first ....and then I feel bad cuz I don't repond to your request for the song.....very wordy here I know.., but just wanna say that you should be my friend if you like the song for real but besides that if you read this you can get the song on itunes...just type in Suburban Sprawl and Alcohol ....that gets it for sure...it's a little more round about if you just put in L.P. but you'll still get there...other than that the only thing I have to report is I'm fuckin' ass going home to nyc this weekend for the weekend and I'm fuckin' psyched ...gonna WALK to a bar and CRAWL home.....yay!!!...good night to all and to all a good night...got just enough time to read a little, rub one out and get a good 8 hours of sleep for manana...peace...l.p.

Current mood: anxious
oh right BLOCK...!!%&..@*!.....fuckin' fuck fuck....listen I just don't feel like writing today okay?.....NO ....don't ask...fuck off I said NO ...no means no ...and not like back of the Impala under the bra, panties in a ball on the front seat kind of no but ...uh NOOOOO...I don't feel like it ...I've got mace kind of no...this next song is for you...for all you do ...rhymes with shoe and boo hoo... and true and the skies are blue....and IIIIIIIIIEEEEEEIIIIIII will always love YOU-oooooo oooooo ....poor Whitney ....seriously what went wrong??? I mean CRACK ...jesus ...that's just so serious...it's like... all that so you don't have to come out as a lesbian?....Bobby Brown???...I'm obviously procrastinating sorry....and on your time ...doubly sorry...btw...had a sorta bad day yesterday and the crowning achievement of the day was walking the dogs...they're not mine I might add ...don't wanna give anyone the idea that I have time to own a dog and properly take care of it ...lest you all run to your nearest aspca and adopt...no I just walk them for the guy I live with which I pretty much feel I have to do everyday cuz they're all attatched to me now...anyway back to the fun...got home after bad day and walked fucking super annoying chalupa...don't even fucking start with the whole chiowowowowowoohuhhuwehbd bullshit ...don't care....they had just been groomed that day and smelled pretty good as far as dogs go...the other one is an Australian cattle dog named Honey....so Honey does her whole "hat dance I'm about to take a shit thing" and at the precise moment she starts shitting... fucking taco bell mutherfucker decides he's going to lean the entire side of his body into her uhhh... excreting apparatus along with a very intricate harnass thing he's wearing....so I sit there dumb-founded with my little Ralph's shopping bag wondering how to pick the shit up....I literally almost chucked the whole dog in the bag and just dropped the entire package into the fucking dumpster which was right there...it would be soooo easy.....but I wasn't raised like that so I just left both dogs tied to a tree with a note...I'm sure they're fine.....thanks for listening ...I had to tell someone...oh and all you animal lovers...just fucking relax I'm kidding... my current mood thing says I'm anxious....this is what anxious sounds like.... ....l.p.
Wasted Lyrics (and west coast morning thoughts...)
Current mood: artistic
holy shit I don't blog enough...have been pretty much strictly writing songs...I don't even think I just spelled writing right ...who knows at this point...I'm posting lyrics to Wasted cuz I got a bunch of new friends wanting to know what the hell I'm saying...cuz it's the theme song to a tv show called South Of Nowhere....dope ...seriously...and the fact that it's a lesbian show ....bonus!...I'm in LA writing as I said and I miss NYC terribly but LA is growing on me a bit.....the weather doesn't suck but I don't like how seperated everyone is...like the suburbs and you know how I feel about the suburbs...ha...no no they're cool...not loud enough for me...plus I got some endless summer shit going down here....but again back to the seperation....you can't go to a bar to meet a friend for a drink casually....this is how it goes : you call said friend who is usually at an audition or going to one, working on a film set or acting in one, eating at a burger joint or driving by one and you say "hey, wanna get a drink?" "Sure." Then you decide where for half an hour and it's ALWAYS far away from both of you (half hour to 45 min) ....you drive down there and find parking for another 15 min to half hour...by that time Happy Hour is either over or Sad now...so the next time you feel like doing the same you don't....you buy a six pack and drink a beer alone in the kitchen....or take a yoga class or something....good times...no really it's good ...just different....I don't know I wasn't really prepared to blog ....it just happened....I just woke up to the soothing sounds of this chiwowa hahahahahaha ...how the fuck do you spell that?....the taco bell dogs??...shit...his name is Biggie so I'll just call him that....the soothing sounds of Biggie barking his little chalupa head off....gotta go walk him so he can leave a poop the size of a peanut on someone's lawn....goodbye all...until next time....I think I might start this blog stuff again ...it's fun...L8tr
Don't waste it
It's only here for today
You don't own it
So you can't just give it away
Forever is half a moment away
So don't waste it
It's only here for today
Everything is waiting here
Don't mess with my heart, don't mess with my mind
Won't let you get us down this time.
You'll like what you see and take it from me
You'll learn to see it over time.
Get wasted on love, get wasted on life, get wasted on anything that's right.
Get wasted, get wasted, get wasted, get wasted with me.
It seems empty
I don't know what you expect
If you don't give
You're never going to get
Forever is half a moment away
So don't waste it
It's only here for today
Everything is waiting here

Winter Tour Blog...some of it...
Current mood: knackered
Holy shit it's fucking cold on this coast!! All this time in LA has turned me into a total wuss in the temperature department. It's been quite a run around since I landed in Newark 1 am on Thursday morning. In ten hours I was back in the van with the ass clowns headed to Boston for a gig at the Paradise Lounge with Secret Cock, a fun little power trio we play with sometimes…make no mistake Secret Cock rocks!…for real. Their guitar player Amy totally hooked us up with a place to stay…she remodels old houses and consequently hers was awesome…she even had a fully stocked rehearsal room downstairs which we completely availed ourselves of the next day…we didn't want to leave but Northampton was calling…We hadn't played at Eleven's in a long time and we were greeted with a real nice crowd…I think for a change we had more people on our side of the bar than the terrifying dance club that Eleven's shares a bathroom with…think Roadhouse starring Pat Swayze ….Campy loves that movie.
We got home to nyc at 6 am and that night had a gig at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park NJ. This was our first time at this legendary club, a place where Bruce Springsteen is known to wander in and see his favorite local talent. We were opening for a guy named Joe Greshecky who's really big there and we had a great crowd and got a bunch of new fans…our NJ crew was there rocking out and even helped me when I completely forgot the words to Change of Scenery…whoops.
Those crazy Jersey kids even showed up at the Mercury Lounge on Tuesday…I had a great time at that show…I think that was loudest a crowd has ever screamed out the words at a show…it was awesome and much drinking ensued.
Now talk about cold….Philly was fucking freezing. Usually the Grape is packed in it's other "dance' rooms but apparently the dj sucked ass and it was just us rock people huddling together to keep warm. The sound is so good there so it's always fun to play. Chefmatt brought the usual 800 pretzels for everyone to eat…it was also his birthday so Happy Birthday again Matt...all in all a fairly sedate winter night…no signing of asses or tilting of glasses for me…boo.
Pittsburgh is always a pleasure but it sure is far away…damn…good thing we got some great people out there. Once again our buddy Gordon and his band So Have I opened for us and brought a shitload of people…thanks Gordy, my wingman…my girl Dove helped me out singing the end of Perfect which is always welcome…we took some requests like Cinderella but not Huge In Japan…sorry…and I finally made it through a Pitt gig without destroying Josh's pedals…amazing…later that night I started to feel a little sick though….
Well….what can I say but I'm SO sorry to any of the people who went out of their way to see us in Columbus or Cincinnati…my running around caught up to me finally and a nasty stomach flu jumped me…the boys and I decided we better get me home for a couple of days and save the rest of the tour because I wouldn't have been able to sing and probably would've hurt my damn self…it sucks…I hate missing shows…please give us another chance next time you guys…I will rock you twice as hard…promise…
So after three days of not leaving the house I was better and ready (I think) for Bowling Green…I mean how could I not be with the amazing response we always get there… those guys/girls are unbelievable…even during spring break the place is packed for us …once again Matty T and Drama Club opened up for us and completely rocked which always helps in the "packed" dept.…I always feel a little shaky the first gig after I'm sick but I was fine and we flew threw our set and whipped everybody up…afterward I had a great time talking to all the usual suspects and a bunch of new ones…then I went back to the van and fell asleep for about three hours while the boys completely annihilated themselves doing shots of Jameson's with the owners of the place…Nate and Wally…I awoke to the sound of them all slurring and laughing and wondering where Tony was…no one could find him…we figured he knew where the hotel was and maybe he started to walk…so while I was driving them home we get a call from Nate who said they found Tony in the back of the bar curled up under a booth sleeping and…surprise!!…smashed out of his mind…Nate said he'd drop him off for us…this was a first at least…it's nice to still have those…Tony can sleep anywhere as he once demonstrated in our old van by squeezing into the wheel well and catching a few z's…he was a contortionist in a past life I just know it…
On the way to Indianapolis as Tony tried to order a coffee at McDonald's he heard someone from the backlines of the kitchen say, "Elvis is here…" ,obviously referring to him to which he replied "I heard that!" which was greeted by silence and pimply faced teens behind the counter trying to look busy…poor Tone…he just wants to be left alone …is that so wrong?…and that my friends is the only interesting thing I have to report about Indianapolis…the Melody Inn reminded me of the good/bad old days when we would play a place for the first time…there were a couple of people there to see us and I wanna thank them…Jodie and Angela thanks for driving all that way after you missed us in Columbus…you rule…. but yeah it was pretty sparse…the stage set up put us in this line formation that's not too conducive to rocking out together but we managed…
Chicago helped me forget all about that last town…what was it again?…yeah anyway so…I love Chicago…we played a show with our old friends from NYC called Suffrajett…they all relocated to Chi Town a year or two ago to be together and rock…they put on an awesome show before us…the sound at Schuba's is so fucking good I could cry…it really made me want to just go nuts vocally and I pretty much did…in my book anyway…everybody sang along and we had a great time…so thanks Chicago for getting us back on track…I saw Pinkbeat who hooked me up once again with a ton of music dvds and cds…thank you thank you…you're the best and Blondievip who gave me a dvd of our last show marked "for L.P. only"…you guys are too good to me…serious…our girl Pearl hooked us up with a place to stay and you just couldn't ask for anything more…oh and thanks to Katie and the dyke crew from Milwaukee who showed up too…I had a great time hangin' out after the show…tell the Tom's I said hi…
